Evil Stirs

Jar

On the northside of Pittsburgh, there stood a house at 1129 Ridge Avenue. It was once said to be ‘the most haunted house in America’. Strange experiments were performed there in which women’s heads were cut off and kept in jars - alive. Rumors persisted about strange happenings, but the years have erased much of the evidence - that is, until recently. The house no longer stands, but the evil of the place has been awakened. On October 1, 2007, the hunt for the truth began as a unique online game. Today, we relaunch the 1129 Ridge story once more as an online serial.

Are you ready to step inside the story again? Thought you knew the truth. Be aware, we’ve added a few twists and turns. The Prolouge will be posted in this space June 15, 2008 and the story will begin again. In the meantime, revisit the two videos below for details.

My name is Michael Flynn.  In 1927, my grandfather, Patrick Flynn, was sent to Pittsburgh to cover the sensational story of the ‘Pittsburgh Spook Man’, one Adolph Brunrichter.  Paddy, as he was affectionately known in the family, spent several weeks researching the story, talking to witnesses, and uncovering what he thought to be the truth.
The story never appeared in his paper, The New York Daily News.  Grandpa never would speak of why or what happened, nor did he share any of his notes or papers.  We all figured that the story of 1129 Ridge Ave. was a hoax, a sham.  Paddy never led us to believe otherwise.
In fact even today, the story appears on the Internet right along sites that disprove it as a hoax.  Is it a hoax?  Is it just a good story or were several women butchered in an experiment to keep their heads alive?  Frankly, I never cared.  It was all just fiction for me - that is until recently.
There was a ghastly murder of a young woman, Rachel Rosen.  Her decapitated body was found near the original location of the house at 1129 Ridge.  A piece of paper was found, mostly burned, but it had my name and my grandfather’s on it along with a few others that said ‘Associated with 1129 Ridge’.
Now I am a suspect in the murder and I am wrapped up in a story that is over 80 years old.  I must follow the clues left behind into dark places that could be real or fake.  Paddy used to tell me stories when I was a kid - strange stories of unknown and unexplained events. Right before Paddy died, he told me that the day would come when I would go face to face with ghosts of the past – ones that he was not able to face.

That time is now.  I need your help.  Will you join me to solve this case?  Is 1129 Ridge a hoax or is it a real life horror that has returned again.  I won’t say there won’t be risks.  One person is already dead and no one is to be trusted.  But if you do take on the risks there are rewards.
